The time has come to be heard!
That's right, from now on, when I post one of my articles here on the site, YOU will be able to post comments about it! This is just the first step in what I hope will result in an informative and useful resource for folks that want to talk about real estate. For more details, read on.
It will be interesting to see if and how visitors put this new feature to work. I am hoping that it allows more of an exchange of ideas and opinions about real estate and our local real estate markets. Of course, there are some ground rules, so I thought I would lay them out briefly here.
First, guest comments will be allowed. However, they will require moderation by default. In other words, you can post as a guest but your post will not show up until I have reviewed it.
Registered users will not have to wait for the moderation process. All those that have registered will see their comments posted immediately. Posts that are not appropriate that are posted by registered users may also be deleted if they are not in the right spirit of the discussion.
So here are the basic expectations for posted comments:
- No spamming. By now, we all know what it is. Anyone doing it will be deleted and banned.
- Be a grown up. We are here to talk about real estate. There will be latitude here, but not enough to allow rude, vulgar or pornographic content.
- No solicitation. If you have something to sell, do it elsewhere. Those posts will be deleted and depending on the type of solicitation, may result in the banning of the poster.
- Be courteous. This falls directly in line with being a grown up, but then there are plenty of not too courteous grown ups out there, so this is worth saying more specifically. If someone chooses to express an opinion and you disagree, you should by all means express your opposing view point - preferably with supporting facts - personal attacks and the like will not be tolerated.
I hope this turns into a great real estate community for everyone involved. I have been thinking about this step for a long time and have imagined both the best and worst it could be. So here is to keeping your fingers crossed!
