Re-listing has been a common tactic used by agents to mask price reductions or to prevent casual property searches from revealing how long a home has really been on the market.
Until October of 2006, the Multiple Listing Service that covers the area from San Francisco down to Monterey, CA allowed this practice. It is now only acceptable to re-list a property after it has been off the market for 30 days.
